Last night's meteor shower watch was a spectacular evening of stargazing! Attendees enjoyed over a dozen meteors from the Perseids Meteor Shower streaking across the sky with varying brilliance. Around 10:30 PM, the European Space Agency's Ariane 6 launch system passed in front of the Big Dipper, venting unburned propellant after delivering a weather satellite into orbit. The venting created a stunning corkscrew-shaped cloud that illuminated the night sky for several minutes until it disappeared over the horizon.
